Our Story

Ethan and Rachael met in the 7th grade at Shades Mountain Baptist Church. They grew up in the student ministry and got to know one another very well over the years. Ethan knew he liked Rachael from the beginning, but Rachael was slower to come around.

On June 15, 2008 Ethan and Rachael finally began dating, which quickly progressed into a serious relationship. Ethan went to Mississippi College in Clinton, and Rachael went to Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. Although the odds seemed to be against it, they dated long-distance for three and a half years. They drove back and forth, going to Chi Omega parties, attending film festivals, and spent more time on the phone than one could possibly imagine.

Sharing a hometown made summers and holidays a nice break from the long-distance and the years seemed to pass by quickly. They both knew pretty quickly that this would be more than just a dating relationship.

Ethan drove to Jackson on December 1st to surprise Rachael by proposing. In January, Rachael moved to Clinton to spend her last semester doing her Social Work internship near Ethan. Since then, Ethan and Rachael have made plans to move back to Birmingham after graduation in May where Ethan will work at Shades Mountain Baptist Church.
